racer5

Believe it or not I had never tried Racer 5 before.  I have actually tried a couple of solid clones of this beer thanks to one of the Masholes; but never let him know that I had no idea what he was cloning.   Now that I have tried the original, I see why he is so into making the clones…  Something this tasty deserves to be duplicated.

Hoppy at first – hits you right away but not over the top.  Actually a nice malty smoothness to this brew, balancing the whole thing off.  It has a real fresh hop to it too.  Of course it will not be the kind of beer a hop head will get all excited about, I would imagine it is a bit too malty for those freaks to get their jollies on.  But for a more tame hop enthusiast like me – this works just fine.

Good and drinkable, a solid IPA.

Almost picked up a 6 of Racer 5 earlier tonight, grabbed Brooklyn’s IPA instead, think next week I’ll try the Racer 5.

I had Racer 5 on tap a while ago. Not over the top hoppy, which is fine by me. I liked it a lot.

  3. Racer 5 is terrific. That’s all we need to know.
