BEER GEAR – So you can’t buy this weeks beer gear masterpiece, but you can build it yourself following the steps that this ~~crazy~~ genius homebrewer documents extremely well on the HomeBrewTalk website.

As a big Futurama fan, I really dig this thing. The keg is cooled in the body (just like the show) and the compressor and controls in his head, along with a computer module that speaks 15 of Benders catch phrases. But the wildest part in my opinion is that the beer is dispensed through the cigar. If you look closely you can see the tap on the end of the cigar in the photo!

He should get together with this guy, who built a Bender – Brewery! Of course, this one is really just an awesome Bender shell, with a homebrew kit in the body – but still amazing and something that I would certainly love to have.

In honor of Halloween, we present this weeks “Beer Gear” segment – what could only be described as one awesome franken-brewery. The video isn’t great and goes for over 10 minutes – but it will only take a few seconds to get the gist of this thing. The builder, Duane Woytonik from Central CA says he is up for pulling it on a trailer to your place if you’re looking for a sure-fire way to impress your beer geek friends. I do quite a bit of shopping on buy.com and they of course have one of those “suggestion engines” that is constantly recommending other add on items I may enjoy.

Well it seems that they have gotten to know me all too well as yesterday it made this suggestion.

Perhaps they knew that I had started a beer gear section on Here for the Beer. Or maybe they knew that Amy’s birthday is coming up and that I would be honored to strut down the street with a chick carrying this fine purse.

Either way – I am a sucker for the up sell and couldn’t resist being the asshole that bought one of these.

One Badass Growler Filler

Continuing our series on beer related gear and gadgets, today I bring you a wonderful piece of Austrian engineering. The folks at Victory Brewing Company in Downingtown Pennsylvania were tired of interrupting their drinking to fill growlers. So they set to task on finding a way to fill them with the least amount of work or waste possible. Enter Alfred Gruber who originally told Victory co-founder Ron Barchet that he was crazy. But once introduced to Ron’s napkin sketch, Gruber set out to take on the challenge and make take out lovers everywhere very happy.

This bad boy dispenses up to 20 different beers, only after evacuating the custom made (and equally badass) growlers with CO2. Then they are filled from the bottom with the beer of your choice, and sealed. All in about 30 seconds. You can check it out on the video or in person at Victory Brewing, where they will be happy to fill one for you.

Be sure to tell them Tim from Here for the Beer sent you, they won’t have any idea why you told them that, but it will make me feel all warm and fuzzy here in Vermont, where I can’t get Victory beer… yet…

I have seen so many beer related gadgets and accessories recently that I thought that I would start a new feature – Here for the Beer gear. Some finds will be awesome, others will be crap…

We start the series with this piece of Swedish engineering. In case the BN army actually want’s to gear up, they can arm themselves with this 6 pack shoulder sling beer coozie. Or as it seems the Brits say “Holster for your tinnies” which has a completely different meaning in the US…

Can’t two of the most powerful countries in the world, each with similar languages come up with something less ridiculous to call these things? Then again – if you are wearing this thing, your tinnies are in no need of a holster.
