Ohio Amish Country

I am sure there are plenty of travel sites that will give you all of the places to see Amish crafts, furnishings and foods. But for us, while we enjoyed the beauty of this countryside, we had made our way to Ohio’s Amish Country in order to visit the Airstream factory and take the factory tour (with hopes of seeing our own Airstream on the assembly line).

So our guide to Ohio Amish Country will have to focus on that.

Pre-Beer

Take the Airstream Factory Tour. It’s offered every day at 2pm and takes about an hour. You’ll walk about 3/4 of a mile around the campus and the assembly floor where you’ll see the iconic Airstreams being put together piece by piece by hand.

Beer

While the Airstream tour was our focus on this trip, we of course managed to find some good local beer along the way at the Millersburg Brewing Company. This small brewery and pub is located in “downtown” Millersburg Ohio. I will say that their French Ridge IPA was excellent.  Just the right balance of citrus and pine and full flavored while still light in body.   Just my kind of IPA. The brewery itself is a small 7BBL system in the basement, visible through a series of windows from the pub above.   We were lucky enough to be there when things were slow and got a tour of the brewhouse and the compact kegging line.   Millersburg is a production brewery as well, distributing their beers locally.

The bar space is comfortable and friendly and the night we were there they were spinning vinyl and happily shared their crates of records for us to peruse to our liking.

The brewery doesn’t offer food directly, but Baggs Sports Pub, which is located next door and is owned by the same folks who own the brewery.   Burgers and pub fare, which we got to-go as we were digging the vibe of the brewery space and bar.

Post-Beer

As former innkeepers, and being that we didn’t have our Airstream yet, we stayed at the beautiful Inn at Honey Run. Highly recommended, this is no ordinary “Inn”. Think upscale boutique hotel with comfort amenities and scenic views. We stayed in one of the “Honeycomb” suites which are built right into the earth and have private balconies and terraces. It’s in a great location if you’re exploring the Amish country, check out this Amish Country Ohio guide if you’re looking to get your Amish on.
