We tried a Auster Bier Stout – Oyster by Künstler Brewing at Künstler Brewing in San Antonio, TX. The Mission bike trail was great, 15 miles of paved trails – nice workout… time for a beer!
Our Auster Bier has big coffee and chocolate notes with just a touch of salt to highlight these flavors. Its namesake, derived from the German translation of oyster.
Oh shucks! We had to brew an Oyster Stout. There’s nothing fishy about this one. Many years ago, when Les the Brewer worked at Branchline, he brewed an Oyster Stout. While I thought this was a shell of a decision, I gave into pier pressure and tried the brew. To my surprise, it ended up being one of my favorite stouts to date. I haven’t seen an Oyster Stout for a while, so I decided to brew one up. Thank you Les for the memory of that amazing stout you made. It’s shuckin’ delicious. Prost!.

Our Rating:
Please note that we don’t really “rate” beers. We are beer geeks, not beer snobs. There’s a time and place for almost every beer. But…
For our own purposes we use the following system:
4 = We would definitely order another of this beer
5 = We would go out of our way to find another of this beer.
