In NoLa for New Years eve, taking Thor for a walk, came across the brand new Courtyard Brewery over in the Magazine street area.
Courtyard Brewery has only been open a couple of months and they just released their first official beer from their new 3BBL brewhouse, a session IPA, appropriately called Baby IPA. We were lucky enough to be able to sample the very first of the batch, straight off the brite tank and it certainly shows promise.
As they’re ramping up, the brewer Scott and his wife Lindsey, are supplementing their beer offerings with an excellent selection of guest drafts. As a nod to Scotts San Diego roots, the draft offerings lean toward the west coast, but are rounded out with some unique local offerings like Bayou Teche and Great Raft.
The tasting room is small, and dog friendly, with a small bar and just a few sitting spots. Despite the name, there’s only a paved “courtyard” right now but these guys are new to the block and based upon the style of what they’ve built out already and our short conversation with them, I imagine they’ve got some great plans in store.
If you’re looking to stop in for a pint, Courtyard Brewery is located at 1020 Erato Street, New Orleans, LA 70130.
