Waypost: RedWe tried a Waypost: Red Stout – Imperial / Double by The Virginia Beer Company at The Virginia Beer Company in Williamsburg, VA.

Waypost: Red (2018)

A big offering to celebrate a big milestone: the 2-year anniversary of The Virginia Beer Company!

A dark base blending hefty amounts of Chocolate Malt, Roasted Barley, and Midnight Wheat creates a robust, jet black beer softened with additions of Flaked Oats. Complemented with succulent flavors of dark chocolate & cherries contributed from time spent aging in Brandy barrels, Waypost: Red is inextricably linked to its sister variants, Waypost: Black & Waypost: Purple, by unifying accents of chocolate on the finish.

This beer is ready to be enjoyed now or suitable for aging, fit to mark the milestones along your journey as it has for us.

Grain Bill: 2 Row, Munich, Chocolate Malt, Victory, Flaked Oats, Roasted Barley, Midnight Wheat, and Crystal 60. Hops: Columbus and East Kent Golding. Aging: Brandy barrels..

Our Rating:

Please note that we don’t really “rate” beers. We are beer geeks, not beer snobs. There’s a time and place for almost every beer. But…

For our own purposes we use the following system:

4 = We would definitely order another of this beer
5 = We would go out of our way to find another of this beer.
